WASHINGTON, District of Columbia—In just a couple of months after his controversial falling out with and subsequent exile from the Black Lives Matter movement organization, civil rights and social activist Shaun King has formed a professional protest services company to expand his activism.
Mr. King announced details of his for-profit company, Atlanta-based Ferguson Protesters, LLC, on Friday in the column he writes for the New York Daily News.
He wrote that he decided to leave the Black Lives Matter movement organization because he sensed it was becoming a “one-issue moment.”
“I wanted to expand the reach of the movement,” Mr. King wrote, “but I was growing frustrated because BLM seemed to be slowly slumming toward an identity of Black Lesbians Matter, whereas I wanted to tackle more crucial national and international civil and human rights issues.”
…BLM seemed to be slowly slumming toward an identity of Black Lesbians Matter….
Because of Mr. King’s long history of activism, Ferguson Protesters, LLC, has the capacity to mobilize thousands of activists so that clients will be able to conduct more professional, focused, engaged, and effective protests.
In his column, he listed initial offerings and capabilities of Ferguson Protesters, LLC.
- Flexible protest packages: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum
- Flexible protest options: Nonviolent, Disruptive, Violent, Extremist
- Flexible protest size: 1 to over 1,000 protesters
- Flexible billing: per capita/daily/weekly/monthly
- Low weekly or monthly retainer
- No up-front or set-up fees!
- First week of protest free on protest contracts exceeding three months
- Targeted social media marketing
- Community engagement solutions.
He explained that Ferguson Protesters, LLC, will provide better organizational, planning, and logistical coordination than the Black Lives Matter movement.
“By now it’s no secret that the way BLM handled tough situations was just one hot mess. Most times they were just clueless. Stuff would just happen and then they would try to figure out what to do next, which made things worse in most situations, particularly in Baltimore.”
Mr. King wrote that he plans to contribute to the international struggles of oppressed people of color by offering the services of Ferguson Protesters, LLC, to ethnic groups like Palestinians in the Middle East and the Untouchable caste in South Asia.
As with all his past activism, Mr. King indicated he would work out of his Atlanta-area home.
